When the board changes
Replace removes an outgoing member and invites their successor in one step, so the seat is never lost. The successor gets the same role.
Transfer admin makes another member the admin and makes you a member. A board can have two admins at most, and always has at least one.
Everything in the workspace stays with the association. Removed members lose access right away; their work stays.
