The problem

Most leaders start looking for a replacement a month before they leave. Nobody says yes on that notice, and the role falls to whoever cannot say no.

When to run it

Six months before your term ends. Earlier if you plan to step down.

The steps

  1. Write down what the job really takes

List the duties, the meetings, and the honest hours a month. Note the busy seasons. Start from the Officer Duties and Annual Transition Calendar so you do not forget the tasks that only come up once a year.
