The problem

Boards either micromanage their staff or management company, or hand over everything and stop paying attention. Both cost money and trust.

When to run it

When you start with new staff or a new AMC, or when the board and staff keep stepping on each other.

The steps

  1. Write down who decides what

Make a simple list in two columns. The board sets direction, approves the budget, and sets policy. Staff runs the daily work inside those lines. If you are changing managers, use the Management Transition Handoff Packet to capture who owned what before.
